Confident healthy smiles are very attractive

by Evesham Dental, on 2nd March 2020 | 0 comments

Warm, open, friendly smiles are an attractive feature that often come from having confidence in our teeth, says Richard Colebourne, the principal dentist at Evesham Dental Health Team on Broadway Road.

Hiding your smile behind your hand or smiling with your lips tightly closed are signs that there is something about your teeth you are unhappy about. It could be that they have become stained due to the natural ageing process or from tea, coffee, red wine or smoking. Or perhaps they are crooked or you have lost a tooth and are aware of the gap. Maybe you feel your breath could be fresher?

Whatever the niggle, our dentists and hygienists and dental therapists can help.

Fresh breath

Bad breath is a common problem that is usually caused by the gases released by bacteria that coat the teeth and tongue and can often be a sign of gum disease.

Some medical problems may be the cause of bad breath including sinusitis, bronchitis, diabetes, liver or kidney problems, and infections of the nose, throat and lungs.

However, bad breath is most often caused by a less than ideal oral hygiene. Fortunately, the problem can be easily solved by the simple oral health routine of brushing our teeth for two minutes twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and visiting a dental hygienist.

We’re here to help

If you are worried that your breath isn’t as fresh smelling as it could be, don’t worry – and please don’t feel embarrassed. Our dentist and hygienists deal with this problem every day, so please ask for their help and advice. Knowing we have fresh breath does wonders for our self-confidence.
